Jim Evans

Jim’s practice focuses primarily on the firm’s government litigation and appellate clients. With a prior background in energy and real property law, he maintains his membership in both the Government and Oil, Gas and Mineral Law sections of the State Bar of Texas. Jim is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law. He is a San Antonio native and misses the Hill Country but has chosen to make his home in Tyler.

Experience

Jim spent several years in the oil and gas industry before returning to law school. At South Texas College of Law he earned accolades competing in trial and appellate competitions and co-founded the school’s student chapter of the Federalist Society.  While clerking for Hon. Kent Sullivan of the 80thDistrict Court in Harris County, Jim was able to observe outstanding trial lawyers, hone his legal skills by researching and drafting bench briefs, and develop a passion for litigation.

Advocacy

Jim has chosen to spend his legal career in Tyler and has assisted clients in oil and gas matters, business and property litigation, and as an in-house attorney for one of the nation’s top private oil and gas companies.  At the Iglesias Law Firm, Jim represents counties and school districts across the state in both employment and constitutional litigation.  He also regularly assists businesses with employment matters.

Community

In his spare time, Jim has volunteered his time to the community by serving on the Board of Directors for Heart of Tyler, a downtown development organization, and helping coach his son’s Little League team. He is also an active member of the Tyler Lawyers’ Chapter of the Federalist Society.  When not working or serving the community, Jim enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and keeping up with his busy children.
